-jeez sorry for the yap session at the end -read it if you want because then you can ask questions and I get to yap more -why is I capital but me isn't? It's kind of stupid ngl ___________________________________________ Hello peeps, I've recently stumbled across a lot of projects about autism made by allistic people who are only writing about things they've heard rather than actually knowing what it is like. Obviously there's nothing wrong with spreading awareness, but it can also be nice to hear from people who actually have autism (or a different thing you're spreading awareness of.) This does NOT highlight experiences of everyone autistic person - autism is a spectrum. Everyone is different. Like how no neurotypical person is the same, not every autistic person will be exactly like your two year old cousin who's obsessed with trains. you'd be surprised how many people meet one autistic person and assume we're all like that lmao. ___________________________________________ also of course if you have any questions about autism ask sincerely, your local autistic goober, stari :P
Some terminology I may use in this: Allistic - Someone who is not autistic Neurodivergent - people whose brains function differently from what is "standard", often in reference to disabilities like autism, ADHD, etc Neurotypical - someone who is not neurodivergent DSM-5: https://www.research.chop.edu/car-autism-roadmap/diagnostic-criteria-for-autism-spectrum-disorder-in-the-dsm-5
