Before everything went wrong, Playtime Co. was one of the biggest toy companies in the world. Founded by Elliot Ludwig in 1930, the company became famous for colorful mascots and popular toys like Huggy Wuggy, Poppy Playtime, and the Smiling Critters. The factory looked cheerful on the outside, with games, daycare areas, schools, and giant toy displays everywhere. But secretly, the company was doing horrifying experiments called the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Scientists kidnapped orphans and turned them into living toys and monsters to create smarter, more lifelike mascots. Many employees either ignored what was happening or helped cover it up. Over time, the experiments became angry, frightened, and desperate after years of pain and imprisonment inside the factory. The “Hour of Joy” was the day everything collapsed. On August 8, 1995, The Prototype led the living toys in a massive rebellion against the humans inside the factory. At exactly 11:00 AM, the toys attacked employees all across the building. Creatures like Mommy Long Legs, Boxy Boo, CatNap, and many others hunted down workers in hallways, labs, schools, and play areas. According to the lore, nearly everyone inside the factory was killed, no matter whether they were innocent or guilty. After the massacre, the factory was abandoned forever, leaving the toys trapped inside with no food or escape. Eventually, the experiments began turning on each other just to survive. The Hour of Joy became the event that destroyed Playtime Co. and started the terrifying story of Poppy Playtime.
