Notes- I created this project and chose these words for a few very deeply personal reasons. First, I lost my grandma a while ago, and lately, I’ve just been missing her so much. I always find myself wondering what life would be like if she were still here with us today. Second, June marks the celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day. A powerful fact about this day is how it defines a 'survivor': the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation considers anyone living with a history of cancer from the exact moment of diagnosis through the rest of their life to be a survivor. Even though my grandma didn’t win her physical battle, she was a survivor the entire time she fought, and there are now over 18 million survivors in the U.S. alone celebrating life, which is so awesome! Finally, I chose these songs “Die With A Smile” and "Bubbly" because they perfectly capture who my grandma was. She never let cancer get the best of her spirit; no matter how hard things got, she always found a way to stay happy. This project is my tribute to her lasting joy, and a message of hope to everyone still fighting.
