“I put on the crown of clowns, and melt slowly to the ground” LaughTrack was sleeping, a dream of her walking through a field of daises that kept expanding, no matter where she walked. She was always surrounded by daises- and there seemed no end to them. At first, the dream had been quite peaceful, but then the world turned upside down and she felt like she was falling- but not backwards, towards the daises. Just as she hit the daises, her form seemed to go past them, like a ghost, and towards another world. Full of daises. A paradise of daises… or was it paradise? There was nothing, nobody… “Yeah, I feel it coming on, when I've been static for too long” Well, LaughTrack could just tell her jokes to the daises endlessly, but they had no ears for them. They were never going to get the jokes, never going to smile when she told the punchline, never going to laugh, when that was all she truly wanted, why she kept telling her puns and such. To make cats smile… and also maybe cement herself as a super hilarious cat, but these daises also had no mind to declare her as such, so that too. “And an explosion comes in time, before I go and cross the line” LaughTrack looked around for an exit, but she couldn’t find any, just daises after daises after daises… everywhere, daises. Just as circus was getting restless, she awoke, startling herself as she looked around to see no more daises. Phew. Though, she did notice that her chest and back felt a little heavy, though the heaviness seemed to leave sometime after, so it probably wasn’t too concerning. She looked around, deciding that the cats around her weren’t really… well, good victims…. Victims for her jokes, that was! Time to scout for somebody in camp, then. “They say you used to be so kind, I never knew you had such a dirty mind” “What is one similarity between eagles and seagulls?” LaughTrack was asking one of her hermit crabs after not finding any suitable victims (everybody was either busy or didn’t want to deal with her), “They’re both alphabetical gulls!” LaughTrack announced cheerfully, “get it? Because like, eagle sounds like e-gull, and seagull sounds like c-gull?” Well, LaughTrack probably shouldn’t have gotten the joke, because realistically do cats even know what the alphabet is? but anyways, the crab paused, and then they slowly looked up and blinked. LaughTrack paused, before she murmured, “okay, I’m bored now. I’m going to go throw a stick or something.” Besides, that could work out her stiffer joints a little. “Well, I went to the doctors believing the devil had control over me and” “Why do cats make horrible storytellers? They only have one tail!” LaughTrack grinned as she stared at the fly on the stick she had picked up to throw- but upon seeing the fly, she had gotten distracted and told it a joke. The fly stayed there for a moment, before it flew off. Laughlin paused, and then she frowned, “Dark forest, not even a fly can appreciate my jokes, what’s the point!” Her gaze drifted to the stick, and she threw it, striking a nearby rock. “Yep, still got it,” she murmured to herself, and then she turned to go. Suddenly, a voice seemed to echo, “and you only have one life.” LaughTrack paused, looking around- there was nothing. Maybe she made the sound up- or maybe, that was herself… “I was finding it hard to breathe in, finding it hard to fight the feeling” She was resting in her nest when she suddenly felt kind of cold. How… odd. She brushed it off, though- it was probably just her getting sweaty from the heat of greenleaf. Some moments later, though, her chest and back suddenly felt kind of heavy again- like something was pushing against it. At that point, LaughTrack felt like there wasn’t something right… and somehow, at that moment, she realized… the voice from earlier was some part of herself that was aware. She was about to- her breath suddenly became a little short as she shuddered with the chilling realization. (Continued in N + C)
(Continued below ……) After all these moons, StarClan decided to play they were bored- it was time for the final act to end and the cruel show to conclude. There was nothing LaughTrack could do to prevent it, but maybe… she could have one last laugh. She chuckled maniacally as she murmured, “You took them away from me one by one, and now it’s my turn? Fine. Take me, but know this.” She paused, trying to not lose her breath as she murmured her final joke, “Why do the stars shine bright at night? Because they know otherwise, nobody would notice them. If you didn’t take, and take, and take, nobody would notice you, or care about you. Do you find this entertaining, StarClan? I hope you laugh at my last joke. You know it’s true, after all. The stars are nothing special themselves, just flashy effects to trick cats into liking you… even though really, you are thieves. Terrible, twinkling thieves.” LaughTrack looked warily up at the sky outside of the elder’s den, before she closed her bright orange eyes, and her body relaxed, the clown’s final breaths giving way… and then, her eyes didn’t open again. “When my heart just burst like a glass balloon, I let it fly too high and it shattered too soon” … Well, LaughTrack’s dead (and if it isn’t obvious, reason was an (atypical?) heart attack, unspecified what cause). Warning for holy yap below: I’ll be honest, I do have a few regrets for her character. I didn’t really do some things I wanted to do with her, and, I just don’t know. I liked roleplaying with her, but it felt like her story wasn’t really progressing as it should have with each roleplay. I also feel bad that, like with LagoonLily, I wasn’t able to really roleplay all that much with LaughTrack in her elderhood (due to not being able to comment due to issues I can’t really control). With that to say, I did accomplish some things with Laugh. For one, she’s my buffest gens character currently with 46 exp total. That’s not really a lot to some people, but yeah. I also really like drawing her. I will note I think her dying at 88 moons is interesting, considering that’s how old Lagoon was when she died and Oonie has like, basically the complete opposite personality lmao. Anyways, yeah. Usually I would organize the comments, but considering I can’t comment, I can’t do that… so the comments can be for all reactions, inrp, oorp, everything. Bonus notes, but the afterlife allegiance Laugh will go to is undecided as of now, because on one hand, I’m not sure she was quite evil enough for the Dark Forest, but on the other, she’s not exactly innocent enough for StarClan, but Outerlands also feels wrong, so idk. Also, will likely not get another gens cat until maybe end of Summer? Due to… well, the commenting problem. Art is by me Lyrics are from Hermit the Frog by MARINA
