it's rly hard to read, so if u can't read it, I'm putting it in the desc and notes. It's Lucaes's backstory, which is on our other chat proj, Em's backstory, which is also over there, but imma put it in Notes and creds. Then it's character Bios. The blank ones are ones that I haven't thought of or been able to fill in. the link is inside
Emmeline Juliette Vance has always had a hard life. Her parents started fighting when she was seven, but the real shift happened the year she turned eight—the year they divorced, and a year that always felt strangely fractured, as if pieces of her own mind had been scrubbed away. She remembered the loud arguments, but the months leading up to the move were a total blur, leaving behind a phantom ache she couldn't explain. That was the year her whole life changed. Em used to love making up stories that went with her friend’s drawings, but it was so long ago now, that she can’t remember who. She remembers that the same friend made her food, and it was her favorite. The best croissants she ever had. Her mom was never able to recreate them. Her mom took Emmeline, her twin sister Elenora Genevieve Vance and her baby sister, Hazel Evangeline Vance to a whole new part of town, and her dad moved across the country. The months right before the move are strangely blank. Any time Em thinks about them, her head starts hurting. Hazel was six months old, and had a bad cold. Their mom knew Hazel probably wouldn’t make it, so it didn’t come as a surprise when she died a month later, in Emmeline’s arms. The girls and their mother grieved the loss of Hazel, their sweet sister. Elenora and Emmeline grew closer after the loss of Hazel, learning each other’s deepest secrets. They were in a small town, with small schools. El and Em try not to look back on this year as they turn fourteen and will soon start high school. There’s only one high school in the town, One day, while Em is reading, El falls down the stairs and breaks her leg. Their mom doesn’t have enough for the hospital bills and has to call their dad, to ask for just a little bit of cash to help his daughter. A huge fight between parents ensues, and their dad argues that their mom should have paid closer attention and then this wouldn’t have happened. One of the worse things coming from him was “Cordelia, I swear! You never could just do your job as a mother!” Em sits there listening, and hates herself for it. She knows she’s not at that school anymore, but her father is just like those teachers. He argues and fights so much, that their mom runs out of the room crying. Em hates to see her mom this way and wishes there was something she could do, so she goes to El and together, they put the money that they have earned over the years together, resulting in about a thousand dollars. It’s just enough to pay El’s hospital bills and for her cast. The girls go home and prepare for school the next month, and on the first day, Em finds one person that she loathes. Lucaes Alexandar Carmicheal, who is everything she wants to be seen as. Bright, bold, strong, passionate, and spirited. Emmeline (Emme, Em, or Emma) has always had a fixation with fire. She wants to be seen as a fire (not literally, she just wants to be seen as bright, bold, strong, and passionate), and can never seem to find it. She’s always been more calm, cool, collected, shy, quiet, and understanding in public. She doesn’t mind being these things, but she doesn’t want to be seen as weak, just because she’s a girl. She shows this side, but when she’s home, she finds herself able to be the fire. Bold, strong, passionate, and spirited. Em doesn’t mind having two different personalities, she just wants to be able to show herself without seeming like she’s stepping out of line. At her old school, if a girl was anything other than calm, cool, collected, quiet, and understanding, they would get hit by a teacher. The teachers wanted the girls seen as girls or objects, and not loud or bold. Em and El’s mom hated the school, but it was the only one they could afford anymore. Their mom had a small job at a local diner, but that barely made enough money for them. Their mom is always happy for them, but they know she’s tired and overworked. Em worked hard to help her mom, but never felt like she was enough. Em and El helped at the diner, walked neighbors dogs, mowed yards, anything to make just a little bit of money.
