"Cassie! I've been wondering where you were last night. You said you have a big thing to tell me that had to happen today and not over text. What is it?" Her eyes, brilliant blue, sparkled at me. "Let's go somewhere more private." She said mischievously. "But school's about to start," I protested. "And how important is homeroom?" She reminds me. "Good point." Why did she always have such too excuses? I would never be able to make such simple but effective ones. "I have something huge to tell you. And you might not like me anymore. But just so you know, I will always love you." This was driving me nuts! What was it? And she can't be doing anything bad. I mean, what could the girl who get perfect scores at everything be doing to make me hate her? "We're here." It was a beautiful place, with cherry blossoms and a river, humming over the rocks. "Well, I don't care, honestly. I love you, and nothing will ever change that." I said the right thing, I think. She smiled hopefully. "What would you do if I told you I was a robot from the future?" "I'd joke about how you always got perfect scores because you have a computer in your brain. Wait, is that the reason you have straight As? Am I dating a robot?" The thought actually concerned me a bit. Had I fallen for a computer? "No, I'm not a complete robot from the future. I'm only 41% robot, but 100% from the future," She said, grimacing at the fact she was 41% inhuman. Wait, the girl I'm dating is nearly half robot? "Slap me." This can't be real. I have to be dreaming. I mean, how? Why? Who? Where? I'm not just repeating those questions from second grade. "I'm sorry, but I can't slap you. I love you too much. " she said, trying to brighten the mood. I don't like this. But am I against having a... What's the word again? Cyborg as a girlfriend? My life is very messed up. My brain, or the sensible part, at least, was telly me to A. Break up, B. Go to sleep and pretend this never happened, and C. Ask her why she has been keeping this secret so long. Does her parents even know? Or, fill in parents? This hurts my brain more than it should. But my heart said to kiss her. She might gone soon. "I know this is a lot to process. And you're probably hurt and mad at me. But I want to tell you I don't have much time. Once my mentor realizes that I did this instead of the mission, he'll send me to a different time. After, let's just say it won't be pleasant. Like, you equivalent of being tortured until you die. And I live a bit longer than you will, because if both my cyborgyness and coming from the future. " She looked so sincere when she told me that. I couldn't break her heart more than it already was. Well, I could, but I wouldn't. If she would give up her mission to do whatever, I would at least make her happy while I still have her. "So, what you're telling me, is I've had and have a cyborg girlfriend. This is weird, but I don't want to lose you, even if you happen to be half robot." I told her. Off track here, but that explains why her name is Cassia instead of the more common names, like Ava or Emma. "I'm glad." She said, and gave me a questioning look. I nodded, and we gave each other a quick kiss, probably the best part of the day for me, and we started sprinting to school. "Don't worry, I can get us out of this," she told me. "OK, Ms. Cyborg, I'll let you search up the best way to convince our teacher to let us pass." "Hang on, step aside for a second." I did what she asked and watched her 'trip' and 'drop' all her things on the ground. Though I knew she fell on purpose, it still looked like she came down hard. "Are you ok? You came down pretty hard." I asked. "I'm fine for the most part. I scrapped my knee a bit, though. That wasn't part of the plan." We put all her books back into her backpack and hear the bell ring. "Well, let's see if this will work better than begging note to be tardy with the teachers. " She said. "Hello, office workers. I'm Cassia, and this is one of my classmates from my ELA class. I know that after the bell rings we rush to our teachers to tell that were late, and get a mark on our report cards. But we have a good reason for being late. I tripped and fell, and all my books fell out. My classmate here helped me pick up all the books that fell, and helped me up. So, even though I don't know his name," this hurt me a bit, even though I knew it was for show, "that he, at very least, shouldn't get a bad mark." She gave them her cute look, which I was also a little mad about, and I pitched in. "OK, OK, fine, I don't won't you to write a whole essay and waste study time so here's two hall passes. Just don't tell anyone I did that. " The worker sighed and gave us the two hall passes. We started to speed walk to our classes and said goodbye to each other, right out of the teachers and their cameras view. "See you at lunch!" Cassie chirped. "Ummm... Yeah. See you at lunch." I replied. And, after a quick wave, we went our classes.
