Sage splashed along in the brook that ran by the CinderPack camp. “Come my lovelies!” She cried, longing for her puppies to frolic alongside her in the water. It was a hot summer’s day, too hot, in Sage’s opinion, to be doing anything but swimming. “Look,” she whispered as a school of shimmering Mountain Whitefish started to swim past, turning the blue water silver as the light glanced off their fins. “If we duck our heads down, we can grab one. Mountain Whitefish tastes very good.” She smiled at them warmly. Sage ducked her head underwater and grabbed a shimmering shape. She quickly jerked it upward and threw the fish on the bank, quickly ending its life with a bite to the neck. She remembered, only the day before, how she had taught them to k!ll quickly. “You put your head under the water very fast, and then reach forward and grab a fish. You may want to swim around first to get situated with the water before you try fishing. Catching prey takes lots of practice. It may take time.” ________________Response Here_____________________ Seeing her puppies struggling swimming, fighting to keep their heads above water AND catch fish, Sage walked over the ground beside her a little upstream and downstream of the pups. Thankfully, she quickly found a sandbar that lifted her a few inches out of the water, though keeping the water deep enough that fish still ran through. “Perfect,” Sage thought. She hurried back to the thrashing pups and quickly woofed, “grab into my fur and climb onto my back, I know a place where you can touch the bottom.” As 4 little bodies attacked themselves to mom, Sage realized that they were starting to weigh more- or was it their waterlogged fur? She swam over to the sandbars making sure to stay with her back on the surface so the pups could breathe, and gently sat them down on the elevated section. “Be careful,” she warned as they explored the ground. “The sandbar drops out into the river suddenly. Try to stay in the middle. The pups discovered that it was easier to try swimming and catch fish when they no longer had to fight to keep their muzzles above water. Sage made laps around the stretch of ground, making sure that she was close enough to grab a puppy if one fell in. (OORP: you can choose in your response to have your pup fall in.) ________________Respond Here______________________
TW: death of fish, caps (used in place of italics) You automatically get 16xp by responding to this project (either prompt). If you catch a fish (I will roll, a 50/50 chance) then you earn an additional 10xp. Also, you might want to create a project that monitors your wolf’s xp, it would be really helpful to me (who monitors hexes and such) and to know which skills might need a “lesson” dedicated to them. -Stream
