The Japanese name Satori Satori - translates to "enlightenment" or "sudden understanding" in Zen Buddhism. Tomo translates to "friend" or "wisdom". Together, they form a beautiful Japanese combination symbolizing intuitive wisdom and harmonious companionship. In Japanese mythology, Satori is also the name of a mountain-dwelling yōkai (spirit monster) known for its uncanny ability to read people's minds. The Accident: In the most famous story, a lumberjack realizes he cannot outsmart the beast and simply goes back to work. As he swings his tool, a stray wood splinter accidentally flies off and strikes the Satori in the eye. The Defeat: Because the splinter was a total accident, the lumberjack had no thought of throwing it. The Satori, completely terrified by an event it could not anticipate or read in the human's mind, panics and flees deep into the wilderness This connects to Satori Tomo in a way because She remains completely terrified of anything she cannot logically calculate, comprehend, or predict.
