Another fall - - - I know my fall last year with knuckles was terrible, but wow was this was scary! Safe to say I had a major confidence knock and is very scared atm. My fall happened within ten or so minutes of mounting. - - - So, when I was tacking up, he was a bit nippy, I have never ridden him before so I just thought he was a bit quirky, anyways that should have been my first red flag. He was a very pretty Chestnut, and definitely a stunning boy! I got into the arena, and well, he wouldn’t stand still, should have been my second red flag that I ignored. so, I lengthened my stirrups and went to mount, and guess what? She would’ve stand still for me to mount, I began getting a bit skeptic about him at this point, but mounted anyways. So, I get on and find my stirrups are too short, so I TRY to get him to stop, but he wouldn’t so I just adjusted them while I moved. After that was done, we went large and were WALKING. Well, he decided to trot. So I’m getting a bit tense, I am trying to get him to walk (yes I used fence to help as I was getting a bit panicky) anyways, I finally got him to walk. Then since we had a newbie in a lesson, they just cut in front, I went to move clarie to the other side of the arena to give me space, but all I had done was given him room to trot. So he takes off in trot, well I tensed up, and squeezed, that was a terrible idea cause that means move. Anyways, he moved, went into canter and through a few bucks in too. Anyways I leant back and he calmed down. But I was still tense…so he trotted, I squeezed, and he went canter, buck, gallop, buck, I had wrapped myself around his neck before he bucked again and my shoe had been flung outside the arena, and I was on my back. This was very scary, lots of tears, and I am limping very bad atm. I refused to end my lesson there, so my trainer asked me to go catch Sarge. Let’s just put it like this, Sarge was lazy, and I am very sore at the moment, like no muscle to nudge him on. I didn’t want to trot as I am still very shaken, so we did a walking race (I lost). In the second round, a horse kicked out at sarge and sarge took off, I was horrified, like next level, I had PTSD and no confidence. So I think I might take everything slow for a while. - - - Apparently since I had a recent growth spurt, my center of gravity has shifted, and I have leaned forward, making me unbalanced and getting him to move. So in many ways, this accident was mostly due to rider error. I am safe and just sore <33 still recovering.
