Scratch was sneaky and so Scratchers fought back, in January 2026. Scratch began it all, by "updating it's policy." The new terms of agreement said that AI could train on your projects, but you would not be able to use any AI in your projects or train your AI projects on Scratch.* So, we fought back. How? Thousands raced to take down projects, while others attempted to halt the AI by releasing nonsense projects. Many left for other platforms such as *Scratch flagged name, hmm...* CTorch* (abbreviated) and MNetwork, totally abandoning Scratch in fury. The Fallout still continues, with Scratch split over incorporating AI in Scratch 4.0 and just training one. However, they're taking a step towards stopping AI slop and in their latest article they announced no AI features would be available in Scratch 4.0.*
