Ayyyyy, congratulations on 1.1k (prolly outdated by now tbh) I actually was originally going to enter with an animation, but im pretty sure i wont finish it in time ;-;, so here's a drawing i did as a backup, im happy how it turned out :3 LORE: (pls note i think i came up with too much, this is just for funzies :3) tw: mention of death, war Furin Mazinstosh was in college studying architecture when the war between humanity and AI broke out at first. For a long while, she didn't bother herself paying attention to the news of bombings, and factory raids. She paid much more attention to hanging out with her best friends, Sommy and Trap, as the three of them hiked, fished, and visited art museums. But after a certain point, it became clear that humanity wasn't winning the war. And since the AI had begun hijacking factories and using them to build bodies to fight, it was getting even worse. So one day, Sommy, Trap, and Furin all made the decision to enlist. Furin was a bit hesitant, but eventually agreed. She wanted to protect the world. However, at the last minute, she changed her mind and decided to volunteer in the red cross as a nurse instead. Her friends didn't find out until they'd been sent away to the front line. For a while, Furin felt good about what she was doing. Everyday, she would help wounded soldiers, and hope that her friends were still alive. She prayed that they weren't already gone. Until one day, she received the telegram. A bomb had been dropped over Sommy and Trap's barracks. Not a single person in their squadron survived. For the first few days, Furin couldn't accept it. She kept believing there was some kind of mistake, that her friends would show up alive. They never did. About a week later, her hospital was raided. Many of her fellow nurses and the soldiers she was caring for died. A week later, a ceasefire was negotiated. A month later, the war was over. They claimed that neither side had won, but it was clear that the AI was victorious. Slowly the land began to be deforested. In two years, about 96% of the world was cover in sprawling, concrete cities where jungles and forests once were. Holograms, neon lights, and buildings like fun houses became the world. Furin moved to one of the mega-cities, called 'Hologram City'. She accepted her fate, attempting to blend in with the gaudy flashiness that many had embraced. Eventually, she purchased two hologram fish, in memorial of her fallen friends. She wondered if she could have saved them. Apologies for how long and bleak that was, I came up with it on a three hour car ride. I was originally going to draw this digitally, so I tried to render it somewhat traditionally. The places where the fish cover her body are supposed to be what she looked like during the war, didn't translate very well to scratch ;-;. The one on her head shows her natural hair, as during the long months she didn't have time to re-bleach it. The one on her body shows her nurse uniform.
