This is my project about the endangered species of soft shell turtle called the Yangtze soft shell turtle also known as rafetus swinhoei it looks strange to describe it has a pig like snout long neck that can retract mottled green / grey shell and a flat shell it has webbed feet for good swimming. it is critically endangered and currently Functionally extinct only two known individuals live today one is a male one in unconfirmed gender the reason why they are critically endangered is Overexploitation For decades, the species was heavily hunted for its meat, skin, and eggs, which were widely consumed or used in traditional medicine. Habitat Destruction The construction of massive hydroelectric dams and urbanization along the Yangtze and Red River basins fragmented their natural environment, destroyed their nesting beaches, and disrupted seasonal water flows. Pollution Heavy industrial runoff and agricultural pollution in the waterways severely degraded water quality, making survival and successful breeding incredibly difficult. From what I have researched they lived in large rivers, wetlands, and deep, muddy lakes in eastern China and northern Vietnam. ways to help it would be to raise awareness to get attention for their survival fund conservation organizations like the tsa turtle survival alliance an promote habitat protection or restoration
