may the shenanigans begin!!11!! [Severely Weakened] - The aftermath of The Compact war resulted in the Voidian Cosmo Force being severely weakened. It resulted in the loss of numerous highly expensive ships. After much analysis by Voidian command it was concluded that while Voidian ships were superior to GASI ships in numerous ways, they were limited by the fact Voidian forces were most distracted engaging in the Cinderist front which left Voidias defenses depleted. It was this highly aggressive offensive and the distraction of much of Voidias military forces that resulted in the GASIs success. The Gemati could never have gotten through a prepared Voidian border along with a military force directly breathing down their necks. It was this single mistake that cost Voidia the war. In fact most agree that if Voidia had spent more time preparing, fortifying its border and then only sending a small (but superior) force into the Cinderist Empire the war could have gone FAR MORE better for Voidia. As this would have allowed Voidia to keep much of its military force. Another added part was that Voidia had not actually heavily developed technology. Yes it was superior to the Gemati but it was not at the level that they are now. Voidias current strength comes entirely from its continued advancements into technology and its massive economic build up (that could in theory into the future possibly even out compete galactic economic super powers like the Gemati and the Greater Sphere due to Voidias numerous amounts of Dyson swarms of increased speed of automation and industrialization). To put simply: Voidias defeat during the Compact War was caused because of the lack of action from the Radiant Empire, blunders their RRI allies made, the lack of actual allies that joined the war, and the massive distraction of the cinderist front along with the failures of industry. However, many of these issues have been one way or another been solved. Voidia has increased its industrial capabilities to absurd levels. Letting it produce its once expensive and exotic ships at a much larger and efficient scale. Advancements in particle weapon technology making engaging Voidia at close range effectively su*cidal and advancements into laser technology (both for sensors and attack) allow Voidia to strike targets a full 300 thousand kms away... a full light second... [Military Structure] - Voidia has upgraded its military structure. The fleets have adopted the 1/3rd rule: 1/3rd of the navy is at all times ready for combat. 1/3rd of the navy is always in a mobilized reserve state. 1/3rd of the navy is in unmobilized reserve. Each 1/3rd of the navy has a role. The combat ready ships are prepared to conduct offensive combat (or to defend the nation), the mobilized reserve is prepared to defend the nation when combat ready ships are on the offensive protecting the back lines from stealth attacks and engage in defensive battles from unexpected fronts. They are Voidias minute men. The non-mobilized reserve force acts as emergency back ups when more ships are needed on the front or when ship count on the front lines is severely depleted. Pair this with their Dyson Swarms and automated factories, and Voidia’s attrition rate is practically zero. We can build ships faster than the enemy can destroy them, and they have the rested crew/automated systems ready to pilot them immediately. [Offensive Doctrine] - Voidia has a massive advantage when it comes to going on the offensive, and its all thanks to a single piece of technology. It is not the sensor technology of Voidia, nor is it the Voidian phaser, or even its attrition. No. It is the Wormhole Drive. Creating a small wormhole that a ship can pass through (do not question the math and stuff its powered by the power of friendship and handwavium). It is this drive that has spear headed Voidian hegemony across the battlefield. Luckily for all, a portable wormhole drive would not be able to bend space time for intergalactic jumps and the farther a ship must jump the more spacetime it must bend. This limits the range of a Voidian ship to only galactic jumps. This however is not a problem. Most combat is expected to be within Voidias border (there are multiple planned hypothetical wars Voidian strategists have been preparing for. Including 1 secret one but you guys don't know this so shush.) This FTL drive essentially invalidates enemy defensive lines and allows Voidia to dictate the rules of engagement for its own fleet permanently until an offensive is broken. It is what has allowed Voidia to conquer the delta quadrant in the PU. It is what has allowed Voidia to conduct planet hopping and simply ignore blood baths in favor of less defended but strategically valuable planets and massive mass flanking from sudden directions an enemies turret cannot react in time. This also allows for rapid mobilization of the entire military for preparations in offensive or defensive operations. +
[Lasers and Macrons] - These nifty little weapons don't get enough love in sci-fi. Most people expect lasers lasers to be close ranged weapons that are like pea shooters that do no damage. To be blunt that is basically propaganda made by the kinetic slug fest lovers. Comparing a ground based unit to a star ship reactor is genuinely a mismatch of extreme levels. Even modern 21st century lasers with the problems of diffraction and other issues can have ranges in the kms now imagine a laser that is powered by a fusion reactor in space. The range would be immense. Now use antimatter reactors and well to put it lightly: it’s going to be big in range. Now luckily for us because the reactors also powering other stuff a Voidian laser is going to be some continent melting weapon on a ship that’s like 50 meters long. Right? Well a smaller ship doesn’t use phasers. And it would allow it to have more energy for lasers. These lasers would be so powerful that they would cause phase transition explosions (yes that’s a thing.) so while it won’t melt a continent it will glass the territory HARD. Maybe destroy a portion of a city. Macron weapons work by launching particle material (about 100nm thick) at extreme speeds. Now while this doesn’t seem like a lot it actually does do a ton of damage (spacedoc has a video about it just watch it I’m not about to explain macron weapons in depth that would be a waste of time). These weapons are used to screw with enemies when they get up close and as CIWS. [Shields] - While most people would use shields as a mid if not first line of defense against enemy attacks, the nature of the voidian dimensional shield (which functions by bending space time to an extreme level) does not allow this. It would also be impossible to shoot through our own shields. However that is not a problem. The Voidian shield is the last line of defense before armor, in the event that a kinetic slug or missile is detected getting past the defense the shield is activated. While relativistic and close in weapons do make this strategy less effective to take care of this voidian ships are not only purposeful designed to be useable even when falling apart but also have robust armor. Not only that but a railgun slug going faster then 0.05C is basically impossible (especially if you put them on turrets and going to 0.01C is stretching realism) and due to the massive caliber of railguns in the CBMV (which makes no sense) most railguns would actually be slow. Not only that but if a laser were to hit we could simply turn on the shield the moment it hits allowing the weapon to do minimal damage.
