Warning: mentions of cars hitting animals (no d3ath, yes bIood and !njuries); implied d3ath of another animal This is not a MYO; I am the only summoner of Blinktails, and you can get them through Name to Claims, freebie batches, and trades. So, I was just out on a walk yesterday, and look what I found! Padding across the road was a little blue… creature? It looked vaguely canid, but bore feathers as well as fur. Its horns made me certain that it couldn’t be a bird, though. I was so confused. Then, a car came towards it. I did what any sensible cat would do: I ran away. I didn’t want to get hit, and this winged creature would surely fly away. The poor creature stared at the car, before lifting its wings and trying to fly. It wasn’t exactly fast enough, though. The car hit one of its hind legs, and the creature fell to the ground. Its body appeared to be flickering slightly. After the car had passed, I ran into the road to take a closer look at the creature. It was a size somewhere around that of a two (2) month old kitten, and its leg bIed. I couldn’t feel a heartbeat, even pressing my hand to its chest. The creature’s wings were still, holding its body as though they were a nest. The little creature made a slight chirping sound, though it was weak. I realized at this point that I was still standing in the middle of the road. So, still carrying the creature, I walked off the road once more. The little creature seemed to relax instantly when leaving the road, as though it had decided it was in a safe space now. Away from the traffic, I was able to process this being fully. A bird-dragon-dog without a heartbeat? Was I dreaming? Clearly now, as when I woke up this morning, it was still there. Seeing as the creature wouldn’t leave, I decided to keep it. I could take care of it, make notes on what it liked and how it behaved. Today, I’ve discovered that it glides on the wind, and though it can fly, prefers to just glide along. This explains why it had such trouble escaping the car: its wings were being pushed by the wind, which blew towards the car. In addition, the creature seems to be able to create dust devils, as I’ve seen it flying around happily in them, wings spread and a joyous grin on its face. The blue patches on its body glow brighter when in flight, and brighter still when creating the dust devils. They seem to indicate that it’s using its power, or maybe that it’s experiencing joy? I’m not sure; further research will be needed. The flickering I found when the car struck seems to be a defence mechanism, making it harder if not impossible to see when in pa!n or shock. I haven’t the heart to test this purposefully, but when I put the wrap on its leg, the same flickering happened, which is how I figured it out. They seem to come from somewhere other than Earth, though I’m not quite sure what that place is, and they appear to have adapted quite well to our planet’s climate. Later this morning, I noticed that my chromebook had been opened. A couple words were typed onto a google doc that I hadn’t created. Overcome by curiosity, I opened it up and read the text. “Help please. They want me gone. Want us gone. Mother gone. I pa!ned. Want mother. You help?” My eyes widened at the message. Someone wanted this beautiful creature… ‘gone’? I knew as well as anyone did that that ‘gone’ meant… forever. I stared down at the creature. “Of course I’ll help you,” I said, “but I’ll need others to help me too.” The creature’s eyes shone with happiness, and I smiled. “We’ll stop whoever wants you gone.” So, I made a plan: I would gather as many of these creatures as I could, giving them out to others who I trusted to care for them just as well as I did, and together, we would all keep the creatures safe. I’ve since named both the creature and the species: Squall is its name, Blinktail its species. The Blinktails won’t disappear if I can help it, and I’ll help as well as I can. Would you be willing to help? Oh, thank you so much! All you need to do is name them; I’ll take pictures of all the Blinktails I find, and send you the ones you claim. I’m also willing to find them specifically for you if you ask for one; just send over another creature and I’ll bring you a Blinktail. Regardless of how you get it, the Blinktail will come through the sky, flying overhead on the wind. So far, I've found three (3): Squall, a little yellow one and an orange and red one. Blinktails appear to come in all non-neon colours, from what I've found, with feline-like patterns. I'll be opening the other two (2) for claiming, but I'm keeping Squall. Thanks again for your help, the Blinktails are counting on you.
