The Arajzhat Royal Army is the professional standing army of the Ghatokän of Arajzhat. Doctrine: The doctrine of the Arajzhat Royal Army is deeply rooted in the horsemanship of nearly every Arajzhtic, learned from childhood, and the ancient ideal of "every man a warrior." About 80% of the Arajzhtic standing army is mounted, and each soldier is expected to be extremely versatile, fighting both as mounted infantry, using horses as transport and dismounting to fight, and as light cavalry, harassing and skirmishing, as needed. Arajzhtic doctrine emphasizes mobile warfare and controlling the battlefield through movement, such as luring enemies into high-casualty corridors or retreating until fighting a battle on beneficial terrain. The 20% of the army that is not mounted consists of combat engineers, garrisons of permanent cities and fortresses that fight as fortified infantry, and heavy artillery operators. Size: The Arajzhat Royal Army has a standing size of about 80,000 men, about 66,000 horsemen and 14,000 other. However, when the homeland is attacked or the Ghat requires it, a great levy can be raised from the ranks of nomadic and semi-nomadic herders across the land, up to tens or hundreds of thousands of horsemen in some historical cases. Under the Army Modernization and Reform Acts of 1896-1898, the National Arms Reserve was established, an official, permanent stock of arms, mainly carbines and rifles, for use by conscripts. Standing force size: 34,000 Horsemen - 26,000 Infantrymen (city garrisons) - 5,000 Artillerists and Specialists - 3,000 Artillery pieces: 74 light horse-drawn field pieces 138 Projected maximum levy: 200,000-400,000 Carbine reserves: est. ~30-70,000 (on top of current stock in use) Rifle reserves: est. ~5,000-13,000
