~War- A poem~ Battlefields stained red, Fear gripping the hearts of those who face the enemy, Fingers resting on triggers, The calm of the early morning, Where soldiers can hardly believe War can happen in such a peaceful scene, But one second changes their lives, When the enemy strikes. Letters clutched dearly in family hands, Tears staining paper and face, One word, one sentence, one letter Changes lives forever, Men: sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, gone forever, Rows and rows of crosses, A reminder to everyone, Of the reality of war. War. Savage, cruel, inhumane, brutal, vicious, All the losses, All the tears, All the men, For what? Power, land, money, Earthly things, That will someday, Be nothing more than smoke and ashes. War. Why will it never end? All the men, R.I.P
To all the men, women, and children in war zones today. To all the men, women and children that worked in the Resistance to fight for a free France. To Jean Moulin(go look his story up), my Resistance hero. Just something I wrote after seeing a Resistance memorial yesterday(the Resistance, men & women who refused to work with the Nazis during WWII, was very strong around where I live :D). I'm proud of the men & women that risked their lives to let France be free. Hope you enjoy! Btw, the last 3 lines are an acronym: W A R Poem by me. Music from pixabay. Cover by me. Samantha <3
