She’d weaved orange silk to make the dragon, and silver silk for the clouds in the background. Pleased with how it looked, she turned and landed near her brother, who was gazing up at the Cocoon nervously with his apple green eyes. Glasswing’s been nervous lately, she thought. It must be the same feeling as me, right? All this change that’s happening to us? Or is there something else he’s not telling me? “Let’s go to the garden today,” She spoke aloud. “Angel said she’d meet us there.” Angel was her friend, who’d gotten her wings a few days before Flicker’s Metamorphosis. Glasswing blinked, looking surprised to be involved in a conversation. “Oh… sure.” He quickly stood up, shaking off whatever thoughts he was having. At the Yellowjacket Hive Garden, Flicker instantly spotted Angel by the fountain. Angel’s scales were shades of pastel blue, purple and pink, and her wings were pale with olive green stripes. She noticed Flicker and Glasswing, and her sky blue eyes went wide. “Flicker!” Angel exclaimed. “You and Glasswing have your wings! Wow, they look so cool! Now we can go on a flight together!” “How’s your weaving job?” Flicker asked. “My first few days were kinda stressful, you know? There was, like, a huge order of silk products that week,” Angel chattered. “Anyways, it’s calmed down a bit, so I was able to ask Junebug if I could leave early, and she said yes.” “I wonder what jobs Glasswing and I will get assigned to,” Flicker mused. “I just hope it’s something good.” “I’m sure it will be,” Angel reassured her. “You both were great students.” She’s good at being comforting, Flicker noted to herself. Glasswing also looked more confident after Angel’s words. I wonder what Autumn is up to. Or if I’ll see her again. I hope so.
