Just so you know, over summer I will probably not be posting. I will try to get as much done as possible, and over summer I will continue to work on the actual book.
Chapter 11: Dex tore away from Rex. "Wait! Don't leave," shouted Rex. Dex ignored Rex's calls as he ran. Dex didn't want to see the disappointment on Nex's face when he confronted him. Dex ran until his legs gave out. Night was falling, and the creatures inhabiting the vast dessert started to become more hostile than before. A pack of large wolves roamed dangerously close to where Dex was sitting. They started to howl eerily as Dex's eyes started to close. Soon, the world became dark and cold, and Dex was succumbing to the fridged temperature. Chapter 12: Dex woke up on a grey bedroll. He opened his eyes to a Crimson Order nurse. "You're awake. Good. I'm Nurse Hera, the one that's traveling with Ruby squadron." Nurse Hera started to fill up a mug with a steaming, red liquid. "Drink this," said Nurse Hera. Dex hesitated for a moment. "She said drink it." Dex then noticed a figure standing in the shadows. They stepped into the light just as Dex started to rise from the bedroll. "Captain?!" "Y'know, I made the same mistake," Nex said calmly. "He did. Except it was old commander Thenner," Nurse Hera said. "What I'm trying to say, is that everybody makes mistakes. What matters is that you mend them." "But Xandel is dead! He would be alive if wasn't for me," said Dex. "Xandel is dead because he stepped on a snake," Nex shouted. The tent was silent. Nobody spoke or moved until Nex sighed. "One day you will understand. People die, what matters is how we move on."
