this is bernkastel from umineko one of my favorite fictional characters ever, esp since its HEAVILY implied that bernkastel is just the rika we see in higurashi, who was also one of my favorite characters. it adds a really tragic aspect to her character, that she went from how she was in higurashi.. a kind girl just trying to find a reason to keep fighting, to the sadistic witch we see in umineko. i suppose after beating the logic error (which i think was just the endless looping june in higurashi) she was granted the powers of a witch and then "split off" from the gameboard rika after that point though.. i wonder what happened to her. despite everything she went through in the loops in higurashi, she had never harmed anyone (asides from beating satako with a chair once iirc) all the deaths and misery she endured for a period of ~100 years, and she never harmed others. yet when we see her in umineko, she is more than happy to torment anyone, including her own daughter (?) erika furudo. the only person she doesnt seem to harm is lambdadelta, but their relationship is a whole can of worms when eva solves the epigraph in one of the games, she splits off into a witch version of herself. the witch version of eva has a much more unhinged composure, so it could be that becoming a witch just does that to you? though, when erika or maria were promoted to witches they didnt really change at all, and neither did battler when he became a warlock something im also quite curious about is the game master on the higurashi game board. it was pretty heavily implied to be hanyuu, which is.. interesting. i wonder how bernkastel feels about hanyuu after becoming a witch, knowing that her suffering was basically all just because hanyuu gave up on solving the logic error anyways yeah theres my schizo umineko rant, umineko/higurashi are series that give you a lot to think about
song - doctrine of fundamentally good i quite like how the final piece turned out, i think the color studies ive done have helped a fair bit
