During the Wilczech Civil War against the oligarchs and ultra-nationalists, the National Revolutionary Army (NRA) was commanded by a series of inexperienced and often inept officers. During the battle for Actima, these commanders thought that slogans and shouts would shield them from hot lead. It did not. The result was an absolute military catastrophe. At 10:00 hours, NRA troops entered the city, expecting an easy victory in numbers. They planned for a maximum of 2-3 weeks of combat to take the city. They were not prepared for an 8-month-long brawl that would take place in the ruins of Actima from May all the way to December. NRA commanders would often lead their own troops into prepared killzones, resulting in hundreds of casualties for every street of Actima taken. Civilian witnesses report that after one wave of untrained militiamen was mowed down by the Nationalists, officers of the NRA (some of whom had no experience in leadership whatsoever) would simply order another wave into the killbox. The long-term effects of the battle of Actima on Wilczech can easily be seen today. In a few parts of the city, you can still find a few sparse bullet holes in the sides of buildings. In the military, Green officers are nicknamed "Actimas". But for Wilczech as a whole, it taught them that change is not easliy acheived, and that at times, great sacrifices must be made for the good of the people. :3
