(original post on @-touqhlcve) “i support ice,” you say as a cross dangles from your neck. funny, because I’m not even the most religious person in the room, but even I know compassion is supposed to mean something. you can’t preach love-your-neighbor on sunday and then cheer for an agency built on tearing families apart on monday. in my predominantly white, supposedly “catholic” school, the n‑word gets tossed around like it’s punctuation. racist comments are made on the daily. people say terrible, cruel things every second. sexism in the world is real. i’ve had a teacher say “girls are good at cooking and cleaning, that’s their job traditionally!” it’s the 21st century, WHAT did you just say to me :’) it’s the same pattern every time: people who’ve never been targeted acting like the world is perfectly fair because it’s always been fair to them. like 70% percent of people in my grade (AND some teachers) support ice, as well as the current president. i don’t agree with the decisions and opinions of the current leader of the us. but i will respect those who do, because you don’t erase hate with more hate. what i dont understand is supporting a program that hurts people. k1lls people. i don’t understand our world. and how full of hate it is. “the only thing stronger than hate is love.” stay kind
