~The Labyrinth of the Minotaur~ =========================================The night was cold and dark on the island of Crete. Not another soul in sight, no, not one. The only sound we could hear was the whistling wind that blew through Hypatia's mane. The coldness sent a shiver down my spine. "Where could this entrance be?" I exclaimed, looking around just to see the same old darkness that followed us wherever we went. Hypatia trotted down a muddy path. Carefully, she watched her steps. I hadn't expected her to be so focused. She is so young, and new to this. I was quite impressed with my little Radiant dream. We trotted for a while until we saw a soft warm light in the distance. Hypatia slowly advanced through the dark sandy foliage. As we approach the flame, I can see a large crowned archway framed by two tall, engraved stone pillars. Four large torches light the path, warming our cold bodies. Looking down the path, it seems to never end. A warm and ominous welcome awaited us. "Are you ready Rider?" A dark voice whispered from the chambers. Hypatia snorted in response. I reached out my hand and stroked her velvet-like mane. Determination filled her eyes. I looked down the forever going maze. Taking in a deep breath, I answered, "We are." And with that we were off. I pulled the reins on Hypatia to slow her down. She was so excited for this race. On the boat to Crete, she was acting very energetic around the other Riders and their horses. But we couldn't be rushing off into the unknown. "Easy girl." I whispered to her. She settled down, and we continued down the Labyrinth. It had been quiet for a while as we traversed the maze. But that was how I worked with my horses. Training them to work without any verbal communication. It strengthened our bond beyond quite literally, words. We turned right, went up a slope, only to be met with a stone wall, "Dead end.." I said. Hypatia backed herself up, and twirled around. Sliding back down the slope, Hypatia hopped off a little edge to the left of the slope. We trotted straight for a while until we came upon a strange fork in the road. Two paths, one slid down into darkness, the other went up, but it had scratch marks all over it. After standing idle for a moment, Hypatia cantered toward the path leading upward. I decided to trust her instincts, but would I regret it?
