parthenogenesis is a type of asexual reproduction where an unfertilized egg grows into an offspring. it's mostly seen in bees, small lizards and Komodo dragons. I was thinking, since there is no trace of any mother cat that could have had Scratch jr, there must have been some asexual stuff going on. At first i thought the scratch cat went through mitosis however that does not quite add up. Mitosis is the process of an organism splitting itself to produce two "daughter" organisms. Mitosis is popular amongst microorganisms and single-cellular animals but the larger the creature, the more complicated complete mitosis becomes. if the scratch cat underwent mitosis, we would have two scratch jr kittens and no OG scratch cat. the scratch jr sprite looks quite different to the scratch cat but maybe that's just because that's what the scratch cat looked like when he was a kitten. it'll be mad funny if this turns out to be canon
