The harrier was retired on June 3rd, 2026. The plane was one of the first planes equipped with VTOL capabilities. It was developed from the British Hawker Siddeley Harrier. Its final flight took place at MCAS Cherry Point. It was honored for its 50+ years of service with a flying off into the sunset flight. Farewell, may the AV8-B Harrier II finally rest. 1969-2026
