Potato Fish is the colloquial term for the species Ichthyosolanumia tuberosum of the genus Ichthyosolanumia, which also contains the Salmonato and Egg-phish species. Potato fish are freshwater fish that swim in rivers, eating small zooplankton and other things most river fish eat, and have high sexual dimorphism. depending on the acidity of the water around an egg during incubating a potato fish may have a different gender. In more acidic waters, a potato fish might grow up to be a male, which has a fin that’s colored red and a body with red markings, referred to as a “ketchup morph”. In less acidic waters, a potato fish might grow up to be a female, which has a fin that’s colored yellow and a body with yellow markings, referred to as a “mustard morph”. Coastal settlements of boar use potato fish as one of their main sources of food, which contain high amounts of starch, using them in such dishes as “potato fish sticks”, “potato fish and chips” and other meals, normally covered in potato fish blood, which surprisingly tastes pretty good, and is used as a dip.
