Mia was looking for a compartment, but there was no room except one particularly large one. Inside, sat three students who looked the same age as her. “May I sit with the three of you? There’s no room left anywhere else on the train!” She told them finally. “Of course. Sit down,” said a boy. Mia sat down with them. Suddenly, there was a knock. It was another girl. She asked, “May I sit with you all?” “Yes,” said the boy again. “By the way, I'm Julian Malfoy,” said the boy. ‘Oh, so that’s why he’s blonde.’ Mia thought. “I'm Julia Weasley,” said the girl who had red hair. “I'm Marleen Granger,” said a maroon haired girl. “Lilith Smith”—that was the girl who had joined them right after Mia. “And I'm Mia Andrew,” Mia said. “Is this your first year, too?” “Yes,” said Marleen, Mia, and Julian in unison. It was Lilith who had asked. When they arrived at Hogwarts, they sailed across the lake in boats—everyone except Julia. She was already in her second year. All the new first-years now stood outside the Great Hall. The students from the other years were already inside. As they entered the hall, they all walked to the front, and Professor McGonagall called out the names of the students who were to step forward to be sorted into a House by the Sorting Hat. “Julian Malfoy!” “Ooh. Another Malfoy. SLYTHERIN!” “Lilith Smith!” “Oh. HUFFLEPUFF!” “Marleen Granger.” Marleen walked to the front and placed the Sorting Hat upon her head. “Another Granger! Your mother was a Ravenclaw but GRYFFINDOR!” Marleen took off the hat and walked over to the Gryffindor table. “Mia Andrew.” “Oh, already the second Andrew. Your mother was a Ravenclaw... and your brother is a Griffindor so you are a GRYFFINDOR!” Mia walked to the Gryffindor table and sat down next to Marleen. And so it continued, until all the new first-years had been called and were seated at their respective House tables. Professor McGonagall spoke a few more words, and then the feast began. Marleen and Mia stuffed themselves so full that they could barely sleep afterward. The next morning, they would have their very first Transfiguration lesson. Mia was looking forwards to it. Ken, her two year older brother came and congratulated her.
Collaborating with @Zoomy_’s Holly Granger series, which is now writing the story of Marleen Granger, Lilli’s daughter. Thanks to JK Rowling, Erin Hunter, and my friends for my ideas.
