FlightRadar24's report: A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 sustained significant damage at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday after its nose landing gear collapsed while the aircraft was parked at the gate. The aircraft, registered D-ABPQ, was positioned at stand A15 and being prepared to operate Lufthansa flight LH450 from Frankfurt to Los Angeles. According to Lufthansa, the incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. local time, before passenger boarding had begun. Only crew members and ground personnel were on board at the time. Lufthansa said several people sustained minor injuries. According to the airline, two Lufthansa cabin crew members and several employees of ground handling providers were taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. The aircraft is expected to be moved to a maintenance hangar later this evening, subject to approval from the relevant authorities. Further inspections will then be carried out before repair work begins. The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. Lufthansa says specialists are on site and are examining the aircraft. Boeing 787-9 D-ABPQ: D-ABPQ is one of Lufthansa’s 16 in-service 787-9s and one of the newest additions to the airline’s widebody fleet. The aircraft itself is just over a year old and was only delivered to Lufthansa in January 2026. Since entering service in February, the aircraft has operated 137 flights.
