((HEy! Jam here, I'm starting a new thing where I write a page about LR worldbuilding from the perspective of a character unnamed, who decided to document their knowledge of the world. Sooo yeah!! This is the first part!! Should I write about the species or the continent it takes place on next????)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAPTER ONE Star and Void No matter your species, we all experience death at some point. Even though some species experience a much more extended lifespan than others, it's always been known to be inevitable. There have been a few cases of researchers claiming to have found a way to imitate immortality, none have been successful. While not much is known of what happens after death, we do know what happens is dependent on the current perception those alive had. We know this due to a rare trait that can be found in both Sirens and Fairies, where they can directly project the current form of a lost life into a pool of water. Studies show that the trait is held by around one in eight sirens, and one in three fairies. What has been proven by this ability is that upon death, you take one of two possible forms. Star or Void If the general memory those alive have of you is positive, or if most see you in a positive light, you exist in a vast form of existence along side other stars you knew in life. Many features change upon star status, which is shown in the illustration provided. Furthermore, upon death, when at star status (or "turning star"), a new colour scheme is also adorned. The colour scheme is seemingly random, although some theories suggest they may be linked to childhood memories. These theories however have no evidence to back them up, nor have any proper studies been conducted. Voids are the exact opposite of stars, existing when the individual was perceived as evil, violent or generally bad; with no changes in physical features, and all perceivable colour being erased, leaving either a violent, glowing white ("Solar voids"), or a deep, nearly impossible to see black ("Lunar voids"). The eye colour of the void is a direct replica of that of the opposite typing (solar voids have jet black eyes, and lunar voids have blinding white eyes). drawings of both can be seen in illustration two. Solar voids appear to possess one of three abilities: -Giving hallucinations to the living or to stars -Temporarily appearing in the living world -Creating vines that can ensnare living who have wandered into their domain. Lunar voids however, only possess the powers they had in life, meaning that human lunar voids are practically powerless, while a shapeshifter lunar void will still possess the ability to change form. Although uncommon, there have been documentations of Voids turning into stars or Stars turning into voids. This seems to occur when a large shift in general perspective changes. Such as new information regarding the use of dark spells or a misunderstanding finally being addressed. That's all I have to note on the topic as of now, as new information and studies are coming out regularly. Stay tuned for my next report. -V
