ACT II - The Travellers AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED 8/ One morning, not long after you and the rest of the animals have begun your journey, a chill arrives. A new crispness to the air. Autumn is here, sweeping through the lands and painting them in shades of red and gold, leaving far behind the charred remains of the summer blaze. Today's prompt: inspiration lies all around us - even the simple changing of the weather and the seasons can tell a story! For this prompt, take a look out of your window. Whatever sight you see out there is what you're going to work with! Write a story/piece of writing inspired in some way by your view. 9/ Days turn into weeks as you cross hills and rivers, mountains and valleys, make your way through warped roots and duck under twisting branches. You see things you had never even been able to imagine, that you thought only existed in myth and folklore, and things that leave you in awe as you pass by. And yet you must simply just keep going. None of them can support you all to thrive as your home once did. Today's prompt: write about a search for something that you don't quite know the specifics of - a person, a place, a thing, or even something else entirely! it's up to you! 10/ As you wander and wander, you find yourself in all manner of different strange and new environments, but not one of them is the place you have all dreamt of. Sometimes when you close your eyes, you see it still there imprinted behind your eyelids, left over from the night’s exploration. A beautiful expanse of wildflower meadow, an ancient oak wood, a sprawling carpet of bluebells, a vast lake full of lilypads, an orchard and field of berry bushes, a gushing waterfall.. It’s everything that any of you could ever want. Today’s prompt: Today, your prompt is to write a piece based on a dream you’ve had! It could be anything, as long as your inspiration comes from something your brain thought up whilst you slept.. 11/ One day, upon turning down a path in the hillside heath, you find a place populated with shrubs full of the sweetest berries any of you have ever tasted. All of you feast eagerly on them, sweet red and purple juice running through your fur and feathers that day and staining your mouths. You notice with amusement a small hedgehog nestling some of the berries in its spines to save for later. Today's prompt: even when you're on a downward path, there tend to be little things that bring you joy. think of 3-4 things that bring you happiness, and post them in the comments of our cabin! then take someone else's things and write something inspired by them. 12/ On the darkest nights, you sing songs to each other. The little songbirds started it, of course - the robins and wrens - but now you all do. You all sound very different of course, some of you not made for singing at all, but all of it is beautiful and comforting in its own way. The foxes’ wails make for a melancholy harmony as the autumn wind and dead leaves rush around you. Today’s prompt: Take a lyric from a song you like - or perhaps play a playlist on shuffle and choose one from whatever comes up first! But either way, now you must write a piece extrapolating from this singular lyric and turning it into a whole scene or story. 13/ The magpie, and all the corvids now - even some of the other smaller birds at times - retell the tales of the prophecy when all seems lost. They hold the belief in the sun the strongest in their hearts, and though none of you will ever soar closer to it, you all trust them as if it is the only thing you can do, and you carry on. Today’s prompt: write about little things that give your character hope in their darkest time… a little bit of light to hold onto when all seems lost. write this piece in sections, each one representing a different time when all seemed lost in the world! these can be from the perspective of the same character or different; in the same format each, or different; anything goes here. 14/ Sometimes, in the autumn mist, you think that you can see the paradise in the distance. But… once you have got there, dashing over the hills through piles of fiery coloured leaves as fast as you can go, the vision is gone. All the while, the trees around you become barer and the wind gets colder. Today’s prompt: Write about something which is not as it seems. Maybe it’s purposely deceitful, maybe there’s something supernatural going on, or maybe it’s simply a mirage or some kind of hallucination! . . . ↟ ↟ ↟ . . . ONWARDS, TO ACT III ... ?
