Book 1! Soleil is a normal child. Well, about as normal as being a Celestial apprentice to a 400-year-old Witch can be. They help around the cottage, feeding the animals Clover — their tough-as-nails boss — brings in, foraging for herbs, and bargaining with shopkeepers. They think they have life figured out. That is, until residents of their floating island home start going missing. Mysterious signs are left where residents were last seen, with no other trace back to where they are being taken. Soleil wants to help, but their Witch elder deems it too dangerous for them — a 14-year-old Celestial whose powers are still developing. Audrey, a Dandy, finds it utterly thrilling. She adores mysteries, and believes this is no different from the books she’ll spend hours reading when she should be helping her girlfriend, Vivienne, run their shop. She and Soleil team up to get to the bottom of it, and before long, they’ve dragged Viv, an angel baker by the name of Gabriel, and a dive bar owner, Delilah, into it. But even as they work together, secrets are being kept. As they start piecing things together, a figure from someone’s past becomes involved. A figure that someone in their group was trying to desperately leave in the past. Suddenly, the investigation gets a lot more interesting — and a hell of a lot more dangerous.
