(Fish hat artwork isn’t done by me, so credits to six-tooth. Artwork after is drawn by me to the dedication of this amazing finale!) Music: Nanatsukaze - May Cat (I had to edit my review so much from the original because apparently Scratch thought that every word was a bad word-) Just yesterday I saw the ending of my favorite show with its theatrical release—The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act. It’s still so difficult for me to just process everything that happened. For once, I just saw the pilot recommended to me and gave it a watch just weeks after release. And now I walked out of the theater after the finale…and I am mind-blown. I’ll be talking about my thoughts on what I thought of it, so be prepared for me just gushing about the finale. There will be spoilers ahead! So if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend checking it out if you are able to see it. The streaming release is on June 19th! Alright, review time! You have been warned for spoilers! The beginning of the episode continues straight where episode eight stopped. Supposedly I was hearing that episode eight begins right where episode seven finished, so I guess this is where the episodes transition without any off-screen events. Kinger deleted Caine and the circus is in ruins. Jax begins arguing with the others, and the SOMA theory is canonized! Although I wish that the reveal that this long-awaited theory was more deep and dealt with heavily, because I felt like all of the circus members shrugged off that kind of lore drop. Also it kind of lowers the stakes of them being stuck in the circus, which is why I never really followed this theory. If they had their brain scans, then what weight would there be if they’re still out there in the circus? Also, if they had the headset on, how would they have taken it off? I was a bit confused at that part, where we didn’t really get any answers. What I really love is how the cast was mature with the ruined circus. Like the message of the show they begin building from what they already have. The circus’ roof is still above them, and no one has abstracted…yet. Jax abstracts. It was done off-screen, which surprised me until I understood it. At first when I saw him scurrying across the circus, I thought that was one of the abstracteds that escaped the cellar (since Caine is no longer on watch). Idk I just felt like the buildup to how he ended up was not really that earned. But he almost did abstract like episodes earlier. That was a satisfying fact since they didn’t bend the rules for Jax, suddenly finding a way to bring him back. Although I would do anything for him to come back I just wish there was a buildup. I’m glad I got to see this in theaters. TADC has been such an amazing series. It’s quirky, fun, traumatizing, and comforting to me. It’s a comfort show to me that blended dark topics with silly moments with the characters, which is what my story is based off of. This show is character-driven, which is what I honestly adore. Stories where the characters choose what to do (or what to destroy!) are always so interesting to learn about, instead of the plot dragging them around. I’d give the ending an 9.4/10. The story was amazing, and I love this show at the bottom of my heart! Everything was great. Of course, all stories have its flaws and missing spots—such as some plot points that weren’t really answered. It’s still fun to have loose ends to figure out on your own. Also I liked the detail that the end credits were different this time! ABSTRAGEDY IS CANON!!!! Thanks for reading!
