I’m pretty sure I’m a dragon otherkin. So, get this, when I was younger, I constantly roleplayed as an animal. Mostly as a cat, dragon, or wolf. I fell in love with Warrior Cats and Wings of Fire. But, after getting into middle skool, I began suppressing this part of myself. This was mostly caused by family issues, sibling ridicule, and social dynamics. I began learning about the alterhuman community around 7th grade. Halfway through, I began making masks, purchasing tails, and practicing quadrobics. I declared myself an otherpaw. Recently, I’ve been exploring how I feel about therianthtopy. I began thinking I may be a cat or fox therian. But, about a week ago, on May 30th, I began researching dragon behavior in fantasy and mythology. I realized that it perfectly described me. Once I realized that, my shifts became prominent and far more common. I began feeling wings pulling on my shoulders, a tail dragging behind me, and the weight of horns on my head. For the first few days after my “awakening,” it was painful. I constantly felt shackled, like a life I didn’t know I had was taken away from me. I still feel that way, like my revelation is freeing but also devastating. Now, every time I look at the sky, I feel the raw, merciless desire to fly. It’s all a bit cliche, but I’m glad I’ve finally discovered who I really am. The drawing featured illustrates how I view my internal self. Please feel free to share your own experiences! I’d love to hear from anyone :)
