Today, on April 18th, 1906, humanity has done something long seen as impossible since the dawn of antiquity. While there have been flying machines, they have all relied on being lighter than air. Making a flying machine heavier than air seemed impossible for a long time. However, with advances in technology, a new field of aeronautic discovery has been opened. With a 50-horsepower Arguk engine. Air pioneer Nikolai Ilyubin conducted many tests with gliders. Seeing that his N-1 and N-2 gliders lacked enough thrust, he attached the engine to its fuselage. Not expecting much from this test, he launched the N-3. On April 18th, Nikolai made what he called his first “real flight,” lasting four minutes during which he took off, completed a circuit above a field, and landed where he had taken off for the first time. This marks a new era for all, one in which nobody is limited to the bounds of the Earth, in which they can travel in the sky with all its grandeur. Here he is shown posing with his N-3 Aeroplane.
