ACT IV - The Haven 22/ The winter seems endless, but one day, at last, the snow begins to melt. It reveals snowdrops which must have bloomed deep beneath the frost, and were only waiting for this day to show themselves. A butterfly flutters past on the morning sunlight, and that’s when you know that you can resume your journey for certain - spring has truly sprung. Today's prompt: it's the beginning of a new era! put your fingers on your keyboard (or grip them around a pencil) and think about a time when things were rough, and how you got through it. but instead of a biography, you'll be writing this story in an alternate universe! choose any fandom, any world, or any idea… and change your experiences however much you'd like to fit them into their new world 23/ New green shoots emerge from the earth, and food gradually becomes abundant once more. Warmth returns like a gentle hug, and the days grow longer once again, letting light back into the world. You are filled with a new sense of belief and hope that one day, you will find a place to belong once more. Today's prompt: the way of life is that everything always seems to circle around and around again… today, you're going to find an old piece of writing, and revitalise it! Whether you edit an old piece to fit your currents standards a little better, or completely rewrite a story using an old concept, make sure you're borrowing something from your past self and giving it a new lease of life! 24/ One bright afternoon, a sparrow that has been flying high in the air comes hurtling towards you, crying out madly for everyone to follow it. At once, you all go to look. From a high ledge, you see something in the distance - in honesty it appears to be nothing more than a blur of trees and colourful flowers, but somehow you all know. This is it, the haven that you’ve dreamed about through every struggle you’ve faced. The prophecy. It is real. You must make it there. Today's prompt: today, a simpler prompt– write about the glorious feeling of finding something you've been looking for! it could be something you've lost, something you've only seen in you dreams, or even a person if you're feeling dramatic <3 25/ Throughout your entire journey, none of you have ever moved with such ease and bounce in your steps. It’s like some magic spell has been cast onto you all, even the oldest and weakest of the group are bounding forwards with a freedom that they have never possessed before. All of you sprint towards your new home and in no time at all and simultaneously a lifetime, somehow, you are there. Today's prompt: today, try playing around with structure in your story! you start with the ending, or incorporate flashbacks, skip around between two timelines, or many others. play around with an unconventional structure, and see what unique story you come up with <3 26/ This haven is just what you had dreamed about for the long year since the great fire, and so much more. It doesn’t feel real. Sunlight brushes your skin like a soft caring hand and bounces onto every surface, bathing everything in a sweet and pleasant orange glow. You almost wonder briefly if you’re in the afterlife. But you are not: you are here in this new world, and all of you are very much alive. Today’s prompt: Write a scene relating in some way to an “afterlife”, or what happens to a character who has passed on. Maybe you could even invent your own afterlife belief and lore. 27/ You settle into your new home almost immediately. It seems, strangely, like nothing at all has lived here before you. There are indeed beautiful expanses of wildflower meadows, ancient oak woods - and every other kind of woods you could want to explore, sprawling carpets of bluebells and every kinds of flowers, vasts lake full of lilypads, orchards and berry bushes, and gushing waterfalls. It’s perfect. Today's prompt: They say ‘home is where the heart is’. While that may not be strictly true, it very much is agreed on by most people that ‘home’ can often describe a feeling more than it can a physical place like your house. Today'll we'll write about that feeling: think of somewhere extremely unexpected such as a battlefield, an active volcano, a dark cave or dungeon, etc - and write a piece with this as the setting, as if it is your beloved and comfortable home. 28/ You thrive in your new life. Warrens, dens, setts, nests and homes of all kind begin to appear all over the forest. New families form, ready for new generations of creatures that will grow up only knowing this place. Nothing else could enter your life that would make you more content than you are here. Sometimes, you can hear a distant crackling from a forest that is no longer there.
desc limit // Today’s prompt: one of the most captivating parts of any great novel is the finale - and so today, we'll skip ahead and start our story at the end! whether it's a glorious five-point finale with plot twists and meticulous plans or a simple, heartwarming chapter that wraps up loose ends, your piece should leave the reader with a sense of closure and a racing heart. Our journey has officially come to an end <3
