Now that Marleen was Stormpaw’s mentor, there wasn’t much time left to play or romp around with other cats. She attended to her duties as a mentor and hunted alongside her apprentice. But soon the holidays were over, and Amberwave, Nightpearl, and Featherheart had to return to Hogwarts. They were about to begin their second year there. Once they were back at Hogwarts, the season of Leaf-bare began for the Clans. Marleen and Julian often visited RiverClan to help them hunt for prey, though they also had a lot of schoolwork to handle. Before long, they realized that this school year was much harder than the first. Yet, Christmas and the Yule Ball were soon approaching. The next day, they had a flying lesson—shared with the Gryffindor sixth-years. Marleen and Mia were excellent flyers. During the break following the lesson, Alexander Wood approached them and said, "Hello. I’m Alexander Wood, the Gryffindor Quidditch captain—though you can call me Alex. I just saw how well you fly. I wanted to ask if you’d like to play as Keeper and Seeker on our team." Mia and Marleen looked at each other and said in unison, "Yes!" "Then come to the Quidditch pitch this afternoon for practice. I’ll decide which positions you’ll take then." With that, he walked away. *A Quidditch player for Gryffindor! That would be amazing!* Marleen thought.
