Hey everyone! Today, I'm going to be the judge of something that Scratchers have warred over a LOT recently: is AI really that harmful, or is everyone just exaggerating? I shall (hopefully) end this war once and for all! --- Let's start with the primary reasons on why people think AI is bad/harmful, exactly. 1. It's considered lazy. "Why use AI to generate an image when you can draw a perfectly good picture yourself if you tried?" 2. A single AI generation uses 16 mililiters of water from the data centers. So, essentially, everyone thinks that whoever generates an image using AI is lazy and a water-waster. *scoffs* Um, I'm afraid you're no better yourself if you think you're better than someone just because you don't use AI! --- When is AI Really Bad to Use? AI is not bad to use all the time, but that doesn't mean there aren't instances where you aren't supposed to use it. For instance: when you're doing a school project, or entering a competition, in which the rules are: the art must be YOURS ENTIRELY, NO AI IS ALLOWED. That's one instance when you're NOT supposed to use AI. Really, any competitions or school assignments/projects with rules that explicitly say answers/work/art should be entirely yours, is where AI should not be used! --- When Can I Use AI? Whenever you like, really, unless an authority or a host doesn't allow it! If someone criticizes you for it, just remind yourself that they aren't any better just because they DON'T use AI. --- As a minor note, even if AI is allowed in your case, don't use it all the time unless your skills in whatever you're using it for are nicely developed. For example: TRY NOT to use AI for coding if you don't understand how to code. TRY NOT to use AI to generate art if you don't know how to draw. But if you want to, feel free! It's not mine - or anyone's - place to judge you if you want to use AI and are ALLOWED to. --- As a final conclusion, AI users should not be discriminated or bullied if they're precedented to use it!! You aren't any better than someone just because you don't use AI. But in the case where AI is NOT allowed: DON'T USE IT. I hope this has cleared things up for everyone! Best regards, - @Twilightrise
