In 1999, just after the introduction of the new constitution, Alzahria began its first set of military changes. The design for the general's uniform in modern times came from Major General Idris al-Mansouri. Idris created an emblematic yet highly functional uniform, using the gloves to symbolize the union of the Alzahrian tribes into one command structure.
