Space to change slides 8-year old is given god-like powers and ruins everything for everyone! Something something 50 years earlier there was an event where some people (called Celestials) get reality-manipulating powers and use them to enslave humans (absolute power corrupts absolutely and allat), and after many years they've built their own society and left the remaining humans to live poor in the remains of the city hiding from them, only coming down to capture more victims. The Celestials used a system of magic where they used technological interfaces, similar to computer programs, to control and change the minds and bodies of their victims. Since the Celestials don't age, Grace was stuck all those years wishing for a family and with immense trauma from the sudden event. Some of her most formative years were spent being taught by some of the most evil minds on the planet. Yet, because of her very power, she only alienated anybody she tried to connect with, using her power to force hollow imitations of connections without fully understanding why it doesn't feel real... There's more characters in this universe but that's it for now There's also a whole magic system they use but I might explain that sometime later
Her design and personality was inspired by characters like The Collector from TOH, Caine from TADC, and Tenna from Deltarune "WHY DO YOU ALWAYS BLAME ME FOR EVERYTHING? I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS POWER I NEVER WANTED THIS RESPONSIBILITY I JUST WANTED A FAMILY" "Slavery might be evil" OH, YOU DON'T SAY!?
