~Prologue~ Secret Service agent Edward Mourey stood straight, face turned towards the window. He looked almost like a shadow in the dark glooms surrounding him. Face deeply scarred by the permanent frown that had haunted his visage for so long, he had the appearance of a serial killer in a crime series. The agent’s job was, ironically, the one he looked most fit to do: strong and muscular, he was nicknamed “Hulk” by the Lost Sequence, a more casual name than Agent 06, his code number. As “tough guy” in the bunch, he often handled the harder cases, with, for example, knocking out and kidnapping his fellow agents at the SS, like the men at the Sequence called the second agent business they were in, or worse, disposing of them. A furtive knock on the door brought Mourey back to the present he had for so long yearned to escape. Being apart of the “do-gooders” wasn’t the thing for him. As someone who liked doing crime instead of solving it, the Sequence was the perfect solution. “Mourey. In my office. Now.” The General, unknown to everyone, even to the Sequence, declared in his acid voice. Mourey turned and bowed his head respectfully. “Yes, my general.” The General, in his long, confident strides, with Mourey following the man like a shadow, walked to the leader’s office, where, just like everywhere else in the Sequence’s building deep in a forest in a remote part of the country, darkness ruled. Darkness and cruelty.
