Chapter One. Mufasa rolled around in the dirt, giggling. “Takka, come join me!” he yowled. Takka slowly walked over, his muscles rippling under his fiery pelt. “Rolling in the dirt is not what princes do.” Takka scoffed. “We don’t have to be prince-y all the time.” Mufasa said with a smile. “Not if you want to be king!” Takka scowled. “I think kings can roll in the dirt,” Mufasa said, pointing to Obasi. Obasi was asleep on the ground. Mufasa glanced at Takka. Takka scoffed. “Strong kings don’t roll in the dirt.” He grumbled. Takka stormed off. “DAAAAAAAAAAD! Takka called you weak!” Obasi rose, his masculine frame slowly grew closer, his golden pelt shining in the light. His large, dark mane was as dark as the endless abyss of the night sky. “Takka..” His voice was deep as he spoke, his tone was strict, but his eyes had a glimmer of affection. Takka froze, glancing at Obasi. “Yes… Father?” Takka said, looking straight into Obasi's eyes. Mufasa noticed Takka did not have the same affectionate glow to his eyes that Obasi had. “Just… Please, try not to insult me,” he drew closer. “We’ll talk about this inside,” he grumbled. Takka slowly got up, as Obasi escorted him away. Mufasa watched. Suddenly, he heard a rustling in the brush. The small, golden prince crept closer in curiosity. He moved a pile of dead grass and leaves aside, revealing a blue-grey hornbill chick, shivering. Mufasa crept closer, inspecting the small bird. “Hello!” He greeted the hornbill. The hornbill looked up at him in response. Mufasa inspected it closer. “I’m Mufasa! What's your name?” He asked. The hornbill continued shivering for a moment before responding. “Za…Zazu…” It responded meekly. “Well Zazu, where's your mom?” Mufasa asked. Zazu pointed at a tree. “I have been waiting for days for her to come,” Zazu admitted, “but she's not here yet.” Mufasa felt bad for Zazu. He assumed his mom was probably gone. Suddenly, he came up with an idea. Maybe he can take care of Zazu. “Zazu..” He said. “Why don’t you come to Pride Rock with me? Until your mom comes back. It’ll be warmer.” Zazu instantly nodded as Mufasa scooped him up. Don’t worry Zazu, he thought. I’ll keep you safe. Mufasa carefully held Zazu in one paw, and walked slowly with the three others. It was a bit of a trek, but he finally made it. He watched as the sun pierced behind the tall rock, the grass swaying peacefully underneath. The sunlight on his pelt made it look as if he were glowing. You're safe here Zazu. He thought.
I did heavily reference the movie for the art.
