╭── ⋅ ⋅ ─────── ✩ ──────── ⋅ ⋅ ─╮ FINALLY SHARED THIS OH MY GODD that took embarrassingly long For those who don't know I went to Japan for 10 days total (including traveling) with a school group! Bro my trip was genuinely so wonderful, I think this was my favorite international trip I've done out of the 9 I've been to :] I'm gonna explain what I did each day as a summary and then give a small description of each photo! Edit: I lied bro Scratch is genuinely losing its mind and I can't write anything without it getting flagged for no apparent reason so I'm just making daily descriptions ───────── Travel Day - Flew for roughly 3 hours to Canada, then after a couple hours took a 13-hour flight to Tokyo, Japan! We arrived at the evening, and we split up into small friend groups and wandered the area around our hotel. My friends and I went to a sushi place, which was very good, although it was pretty anxiety-inducing trying to order despite the language barrier and we were all pretty nervous about being rude accidentally ^^' Day 1 - We visited Meiji Shrine as a large group and then we went to Takeshita Street and split into our friend groups and wandered the area! Takeshita Street is known for its kawaii culture and it genuinely had so much awesome stuff, I bought a lot there LOL. We also traveled to Shibuya Crossing and explored there! Day 2 - We visited a museum on modern Japanese life, then visited Akihabara which has a lot of anime merch and figures and a lot of other cool stuff! We also visited a Buddhist Temple and then experienced a traditional matcha tea ceremony which was all a ton of fun Day 3 - We visited a museum that touched robotics and AI within the context of improving human lives (not gen AI but regular AI, there are very important differences) which honestly weirded me out a bit given how “uncanny valley” it all felt BUT I got myself an awesome sacabambaspis keychain and an anomalocaris pin so it’s 100% completely worth it. We spent a couple hours at a mall, then took a bullet train from Tokyo to Hiroshima! Day 4 - Visited different memorial sites as a group with a guide who explained different stories/facts about the atomic bombing, then went to a museum on the events, it was very eye opening, there were a lot of terrible things that happened. Then we split up and wandered the main shopping district, got lunch, and wandered Hiroshima! Visited Hiroshima Castle, then spent the rest of the time messing around and exploring the city Day 5 - I LOVED TODAY!! We went to Miyajima Island and everything was really pretty, there was a lot of good food, shops, and places to go! We visited Itsukushima Shrine as a group, then split up and wandered the island, bought food, and yall my friends and I spent so much money here T0T We also did a little photoshoot of each other, except y'all don't get to see cus we are NOT doing a face reveal </3 Later that day after we got back to Hiroshima, we went to a festival and wandered the city at night Day 6 - We traveled via bullet train to Osaka next! We toured Osaka Castle, then got lunch at a mall (I lost my phone here for like an hour I thought it was over for me T0T) then explored the mall, went on a ferris wheel that was there, then went to (I think??) Namba street and explored/bought some things and had dinner!! Day 7 - This day was supposed to be a travel day but our flight was at like 6pm so we spent the first half of the day in Nara! This place is famous for its bowing deer, and they were literally everywhere LOL, they went so feral over food :,D There was a Buddhist Temple that we visited first as a group, then we split up and wandered the town, bro my friends got us lost and we ended up going in a giant circle trying to find public restrooms just to end up where we started with a restroom just around the corner T0T Travel Days - At 6pm we took a 13 hour flight to Canada where we spent the night at a hotel (and starved us /hj) no but seriously everyone's circadian rhythms were wildly off and my roommates all fell asleep (except me cus I'm the goat and I knew I had to reset my sleep schedule to be back on EST time cus I had to lock in and work literally the next day) so we missed our window to eat dinner, and the conversation for the next 12 hours was literally just what fast food we wanted to eat T0T But we ate in the morning at the airport, then took a 3 hour flight back home!! THAT'S ALL YAY!! I had such a fun time on this trip, I learned a lot about Japanese culture and history!
