#art #history #funny #all The Emu War was a real wildlife management operation that took place in Australia in 1932. After World War I, many veterans were given farmland in Western Australia, but large numbers of emus began migrating through the area and damaging crops. In response, the Australian government sent soldiers armed with machine guns to reduce the emu population. However, the birds proved surprisingly difficult to target because they were fast, spread out into smaller groups, and could quickly flee the area. Despite several military operations, relatively few emus were eliminated, and the campaign was eventually ended. The event became famous as the "Emu War" and is often remembered humorously as a conflict in which the emus effectively outlasted the Australian military.
