I joined Scratch on 13th January 2017, almost 10 years ago. I created my first Scratch account @laka 33. I was only 10 years old and had no idea of the community features back then but the coding part was so fun! At first I only I'd very simple projects and also couldn't find out how to use the vector editior but I still had a lot of fun! When Scratch updated to Scratch 3.0 I couldn't figure out how to change the language to German and as I didn't speak English back then, I kinda abandoned Scratch. That was until we used Scratch in class in October 2019 and our teacher showed us how to change the language to German. Shortly after I decided to create this account. However, I didn't really use it until late 2020. At this point schools had been closed down due to Covid for a second time and I was kind of bored. In January 2021 I discovered the SDS and the community part of Scratch and that changed so much! Over the years I have meet so many amazing people here!. Communicating with all kinds off different people is something that makes Scratch special to me. I'm really glad I got opportunities to give back to the community by being part of the SDS and now the SMP (unfortunately I can't be as active as I'd like to be anymore because I don't have much time). It's crazy how much things have changed since I joined this community. Scratch has taught me so much honestly! Of course I learned the basics of coding but it's just so much more. Being on Scratch improved my English skills by a margin. (Seriously if you find any of my comments from 2021 you'll see that my English wasn't good then lol). It also helped me to get over my fear of interacting with people and actually make friends! Scratch really helped me to grow as a person. Another part is that Scratch actually played a part in me deciding on what I want to do after school. I'm in second semester now and I am studying something media related! We also have to learn Python for university and Scratch helped me a lot understanding some concepts (when I started out learning Python and I'd got stuck on a code I would try to build the code in Scratch which would make the concepts make more sense to me) Looking back I'm really glad I joined Scratch. It's crazy that it's been eight years honestly. When I first started Scratch I was in Elementary school and now I am at college. There are honestly so many more things I could say but I think I might run out of space then. Anyways, thank you for everything <3
