(Gray POV) We arrived home to our penthouse, laughing and talking. Val had his arm around Glitch, smirking and snickering about something the goopy, shorter man had said. Owen was staring at them, not saying anything. But, I could see the small, amused smile on his face. While the others went to the kitchen, I didn't follow. Instead, I took a turn and headed to the living room. Eliara was sitting on the couch, watching TV. She was sitting, hugging her knees to her chest, and her dark curls of hair covering her face. My heart fluttered at the sight of her. I took a deep breath and walked over. I took off the small black sun hat with that cute little white bow that she always wore off of her head. She looked up at me with an annoyed expression, but the glimmer of amusement in her eyes betrayed her. I chuckled. "Hey, Eliara," I said. "Miss us?" She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I did. Don't let it get to your head though." She snatched her hat back and put it back on her head. I hesitated before sitting down next to her. "Did anything interesting happen when we were gone?" I asked. Eliara seemed to hesitate before finally responding. "Nothing happened." She muttered. I tilted my head. I knew something was off. Her jaw muscle twitched, and she was fidgeting with the edge of her long, dark sleeves. "Are you sure?" I asked softly, reaching out to put a hand on her shoulder. Eliara visibly tensed, and I quickly pulled my hand away. "I said nothing happened." She gritted her teeth and turned away from me. I watched her for a moment. I didn't know what to do. I've never seen Eliara act like this before. I slowly stood up. "Okay...well, I'll be in the kitchen if you need me. The others are there too." I mumbled before walking off to the kitchen.
