Moonwilds On the island, life once existed in complete peace. Cats lived together without borders, leaders, or division, sharing hunting grounds and shelter beneath open skies and shifting winds. Ember, Bramble, Gale, and Mist moved among the others as equals, alongside cats like Burnt, Thorn, Heather, and Fog, while healers such as Lava, Thicket, Moor, and Drift tended to the injured and the sick. Warriors trained, queens raised kits like Pebble, Reed, Cheetah, Spark, Moss, and Shell, and elders watched over them all with calm certainty that life would always remain as it was. Even then, small tensions began to form. Ember often spoke of the need for structure, while Bramble questioned whether peace could truly last without rules to protect it. Gale trusted the wind more than words, and Mist believed survival required preparation for what others refused to see. Ashen watched silently from the edges of gatherings, saying little but noticing everything. The kits, meanwhile, knew nothing of conflict, growing up in laughter and games along the sand and reeds, believing the island belonged equally to everyone. As moons passed, disagreements slowly hardened into separation. Hunting disputes turned into arguments, arguments turned into refusal to share, and refusal became distance. Ember, Bramble, Gale, and Mist eventually stepped away from one another, each forming their own following. Ember became Embermoon, founding EmberFang-Pact with Burnstorm and warriors like Tumbleclaw and Lavaleaf. Bramble became Bramblemoon, forming BrambleFell-Kin with Thorn and Thicketfang. Gale became Galemoon, leading GaleCrest-Sworn with Heatherfoot and Moorbounce. Mist became Mistmoon, leading MistFen-Vow alongside Fogtail and Driftpelt. What had once been one community fractured into four territories. Borders formed where none had existed before, and the island that was once shared became divided by scent markers and conflict. Battles broke out over prey and land, and cats who once trained together now met with claws unsheathed. Meanwhile, far above in the cliffs, IronWrath watched under Ironmoon’s leadership, with Ashenpond among them, observing rather than interfering—waiting for the right moment to act. Through all of this, new generations grew up knowing nothing but division. Kits like Pebblekip, Reedkip, Cheetahkip, Spark, Moss, and Shell became apprentices as war tightened its grip on the island. Pebble and Ash, now Pebblepad and Ashpad, were among them—closer than most brothers, sharing a nest and moving through training side by side even as their world grew more dangerous. On one such day, Pebblepad could no longer sit still. Ignoring warnings, he rushed toward the Graywash with Ashpad chasing after him. The two apprentices reached the rushing river, its water louder and faster than before, standing at the edge of a world that no longer felt safe or simple. Pebblepad’s excitement burned bright as he looked ahead, while Ashpad’s hesitation reflected the growing truth they were all beginning to face—that the island they had grown up on no longer belonged to one peaceful family, but to something far more divided, and far more dangerous.
