I've been seeing these things at the swamp for a while now. This is the first time I've been able to catch one. it was on complete accident though. :/ I was at the swamp with a bowl, cuz i wanted to raise tadpoles. (Only the ones with injury's so they could get better.) I also had a cup so I could put the tadpoles in it while I got the water so they couldn't swim out. I got the water and dirt and plants and rocks and- okay I'll stop with the list ;-; I walked home and when I took a closer look at the bowl as the mud settled, I saw something swim in the shallows of it. I set the bowl down on my counter and watched for the next time it came up for air. Eventually, it did. And oh, my gosh I thought this thing was a tadpole and then I saw its gills and front legs. (The tadpoles at my swamp all have back legs now) I took it and put it in the cup and then ANOTHER ONE went up for air. I think its a long-toed salamander. What else could it be?
The big one I named the big one Dart and the smaller one Poppy. the third photo is up close. not the big one.
