- Will o' Wisp Acres Updates - - Update 51 | Jumping Snow Bareback - - - - I've been trying to throw in a few longer updates amongst my usual one-backgrounds ones, so enjoy this montage of Snow! - - - Snow is one of our gorgeous hunter jumpers sired by one of our mares, Alaska. Now, recently it's Snow's half-brother, Frost, that has been getting all the attention from us, as our current newest foal on the farm! But nonetheless, today I wanted to work Snow a little and improve on both his and my own balance. We only did this session for around 20 minutes as I try to limit the amount of bareback riding I do on my horses due to the negative impact it can have on their back muscles and spine. I do, however always find these kinds of activities extremely helpful in both improving our skills and creating a closer bond with the horse. We started out with some simple ground poles to warm up, and trotted smoothly over then. I pushed him forward into a canter and we went over a small cross rail as well. We did that circuit a few times before I got off and reset the arena to a few more higher jumps. We went at a canter this time at the ground poles and over another cross rail, and I trotted him back around to attempt a sequence. There was only one stride between the two jumps, so he did really well to not knock anything over. A few times there I definitely felt quite unsteady, which is a sign I need to work on my bareback jumping skills! This was nowhere near as high as Snow has jumped before, when he's fully tacked up in his hunter gear he can go extremely high. Today was just a fun session for us both, and by the end of it I rinsed him down and gave him a few treats for being such a good boy. - - - Snow: @retro-mushroom Jumps/Poles: @Dontay13 Rider Base: @MythtopianPegasus Tack, Background + Rider Adjustments: @Stxrry-Nightz- - - -
