First of all, I apologize for the late post (yes ik pride month started 14 days ago) WHAT IS PRIDE MONTH Pride Month is the celebration of accepting people part of the LGBTQ+ community. WHY DO WE CELEBRATE PRIDE MONTH We celebrate Pride Month to let people part of the LGBTQ+ community feel welcomed and to raise awareness around problems involving the LGBTQ+ community WHAT IS LGBTQ+ AND WHAT DOES IT STAND FOR LGBTQ+ is an umbrel­la term that includes peo­ple of var­i­ous sex­u­al ori­en­ta­tions and gen­der iden­ti­ties. It includes indi­vid­u­als who iden­ti­fy as: Les­bian Gay Bisex­u­al Trans­gen­der Queer or ques­tion­ing and the plus sign rep­re­sent­s the many oth­er iden­ti­ties. WHAT DO YOU IDENTIFY AS I myself identify as straight, but I still support and believe in the LGBTQ+ community! I in fact have many friends who identify as gay, lesbian, trans, bi, and pan, and I love learning more about the wonderful community!!! WHY DO SOME PEOPLE NOT SUPPORT LGBTQ+ Some people do NOT support LGBTQ+, and that is ok! People have their own beliefs, and sometimes religion plays a big role. But even so, you should still accept others as who they are truly, not who they were born as. WHAT ARE SOME CHALLENGES THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY FACE Many people in the LGBTQ+ community undergo stress, anxiety, depression, discrimination, rejection, and bullying. Many feel embarrassed or scared to share their true identity for fear of being made fun of, which is NOT ok! Everyone should be accepted as who they are.
