The arena has been quiet lately; too quiet. Following the death of Tiger and Wheels, the two surviving tributes hunkered down in shelter to survive the night, too tired to finish the fight then and there. After that, the weather miraculously warmed, allowing the tributes to return to their previous shelters. Only… it kept warming up. Over the course of a mere few days, the temperature has changed from hypothermia-inducing bitter cold to a sweltering heat. The ice of the lake melts, beginning to flood the arena. Even worse, the permafrost decays beneath the heat, releasing ancient microscopic evils to wreak havoc upon the arena. They can’t be seen by the eyes of a cat, but their effect is visible in the tainted water, and the mutts that begin to mysteriously fall without a chance to fight. The water is high; the arena is not safe. Every passing day the conditions gradually worsen. The two remaining tributes could try to ride it out, or hide until their opponent succumbs before them. But the Capitol is growing bored. Both cats know there is only one option; the illusion of choice is a facade. The Capitol’s hunger for bloodshed must be satiated. There is no final announcement declaring the battle of “Leer of District 4 versus Ellis of District 12!” The Capitol remains eerily silent. But their last demand resounds wordlessly through the air. The tribute’s penguin companions give one final gift of a healing touch before retreating to watch from a safe distance; no more help will be given. Leer and Ellis both know what they need to do: the only question is, who will emerge the victor, and who will fall right before the finish line. The finals of Round 12 is a battle between Leers and Ellis. The roleplayers will discuss if weapons and items are allowed, etc. To ensure fairness, both roleplayers will roll on the battle project, and whoever has the higher score will begin. Finals are due by 6/20.
