This is the first part of a novel I am writing. The fully edited version is below, there may be mistakes in the actual project, sorry. Also sorry it lined up weird When we arrived, we were greeted by a butler. He had a slender physique, and a fake grin plastered across his face. "Here to see Amara?" He didn't wait for a reply. "Sit over there," The man guestered towards a corner lined with a few chairs. Father and I sat, and I took out my notebook and wrote to pass the time. We had to wait for my mother, Aella, who, as usual, was late. The name 'Aella' is Greek for 'whirlwind' and it couldn't suite mother more. She truly is a whirlwind, always rushing about, sweeping in dramatically late and disappearing again. I love mother, but sometimes I wish she would slow down and pay more attention to me. Since she and father got a divorce, three years ago now, she hasn't much time for me at all. "Coee, hello!" Mother's exaggerated greeting jolted me back from my distant thoughts. "Oh, darling! You look well, getting so much taller since I last saw you!" Aella's voice rang out, loud enough for everyone around to hear. I sighed. 'That's because its been 6 months' I thought, but just smiled politely and mumbled a distant "Hello," She turned to Father and an awkward silence ensued. Suddenly Aella had let out a loud fake laugh, though nothing had been funny. Father began to laugh along with her, a strechted laugh which seemed to last forever. He nudged me and I stood there, confused. As the laughs eventually stopped. Father said, "Hello, erm, you look well," He stared at his shoes like a child forced to talk to an adult. "You too," Came the reply. I stared out the window. Honestly, did they have to be so odd? Just then, the man from earlier called us over, and we were saved from any more awkward small talk. We started toward the grand staircase before us but the butler moved in the way. "Not you two," He said briskly. "you can wait down here," I felt my eyes widen and doubts filled my mind. How could I do this alone?
